Tightening collaboration with local partners in Vietnam

Tightening collaboration with local partners in Vietnam

On June 29th a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SNV Vietnam and the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan Province for SNV’s “Enhancing Opportunities for Women’s Enterprises” (EOWE) programme.

Ninh Thuan is one of the four provinces, alongside Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh and Quang Binh, in Vietnam in which the EOWE programme is implemented. The programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of its Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women (FLOW) funding window, and is implemented in Vietnam and Kenya until the end of 2020.

The MoUs signed between SNV Vietnam and local provinces serve as a framework for collaboration in boosting agricultural development, promoting gender equality, and creating an enabling environment for women’s entrepreneurship in Vietnam. The EOWE programme supports improved capacity of local actors to implement gender policies and address socio-economic barriers, thereby creating an enabling environment for female business leaders. The programme also supports small and medium-sized enterprises and cooperatives that are led by women or employ female staff to access advanced technologies, markets and technical services to reduce gender inequality in economic activities.  The programme also builds the capacity of local partners that play a key role in making positive changes to gender inequality and promoting women’s participation in agricultural production activities.
