SNV welcomes Torgny Holmgren as new Supervisory Board Member

SNV is delighted to announce the appointment of Torgny Holmgren to its Supervisory Board for a four-year term.

Torgny is a development economist with over 40 years’ experience from policy making, analytical work and leadership positions in Swedish and international organizations, foundations, task forces, commissions, and expert groups.

He has been Executive Director of Stockholm International Water Institute, and Ambassador for Global Sustainability and Deputy Director General at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. He led the international Expert Group on Development Issues (EGDI) in the early 2000s and was a member of The Expert Group for Aid Studies for the last 11 years.

Torgny has served as economist at the World Bank in Washington DC and at the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. He was Sherpa in UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability proposing the SDGs.

A Swedish national, Torgny graduated from Stockholm School of Economics and is today engaged as Sr Advisor on Global and Sustainable Development and Finance. He sits on the board of Swedfund International.

Torgny’s extensive experience and specialist expertise will be a great asset in further strengthening SNV’s seven-member-strong Supervisory Board.
