Kenya Union of Savings KUSCCO launches Smart Water for Agriculture loan facility

Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) has launched a Smart Water Loan facility - Smart Water for Agriculture during an event at the Laico Regency hotel in Nairobi on 18 May 2018.

The loan facililty has been created in collaboration with SNV's Smart Water for Agriculture project. The product was launched to improve the agricultural productivity of smallholder farmers in Kenya by increasing access to smart water solutions for farmers. The product will provide loans to smallholder farmers through their SACCOs at good lending rates, specifically to purchase solar and other irrigation products that would help increase on-farm water productivity.

The launch was done at the 31st Annual General meeting of KUSCCO and was attended by the leaders of SACCO's across Kenya. ‎Deputy Head of Mission, Head of Trade and Development - ‎Embassy of the Netherlands at Nairobi - Ms. Martine van Hoogstraten officially declared the product launched at the event.

We hope that such financial products will help fast-track the uptake of smart water solutions in kenya.
