Promote and strengthen entreprises and market systems in drought prone ASAL areas (KRDP cfp Lot II) project is funded by the European Union. The overall objective of the project is to promote and strengthen ASAL-based enterprises and market systems as a response to climate change shocks in semi-arid areas.
The project specifically the project targets to develop a strong commercialisation approach to fodder and fodder seed production, support and strengthen market access companies (MACs) and linkages to steer fattening initiatives, and promote women CBOs/Groups' running milk entreprises and work towards integration of commercial initiatives with community and county drought/disaster contingency planning. The contract agrement was signed on 22nd November 2012 between the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. (Welthungerhilfe). SNV is a partner with Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. (Welthungerhilfe) and Neighbours Initiative Alliance (NIA) in three ASAL Counties of Kajiado, Narok and West Pokot for a period of 3 years (2012 - 2015).
