  • Abstract

This ex‑ante disclosure describes support from the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) Origination Facility to Phuc Sinh Corporation, a leading coffee exporter and processor in Vietnam. Since its founding, Phuc Sinh has championed Rainforest Alliance‑certified coffee and climate‑resilient practices. With DFCD backing, the company plans to nearly double certified cultivation to over 7,000 hectares by 2028. This expansion is expected to empower around 10,000 smallholder farmers and encourage climate‑smart, deforestation‑free methods in vulnerable regions.

The project is supported by a EUR 367,500 DFCD grant and comprehensive technical assistance to de‑risk the proposal and ready it for investment by FMO. Key preparatory activities include evaluating new sourcing regions, scaling up farmer training programmes on sustainable coffee practices, supporting operations in new areas, and strengthening Phuc Sinh’s environmental and social governance systems.

Anticipated environmental and social outcomes include avoiding around 3,825 tonnes of CO₂e emissions annually, managing an additional 3,300 hectares of farmland under sustainable practice, and improving the livelihoods of around 10,000 individuals, including nearly 3,800 from people who have been marginalised, by increasing their decision‑making power.

This project exemplifies DFCD’s approach to supporting climate‑resilient supply chains, sustainability standards, inclusive farmer empowerment, and investment readiness within Vietnam’s coffee sector.
