SNV adopts the principles for locally led adaptation, reaffirming its support to...
SNV has been present in Tanzania for over 40 years. We aim to achieve inclusive growth and development through effective solutions with local impact, which are essential for lasting development success.
Since the early 2000s, Tanzania has seen remarkable economic growth and strong resilience to external shocks. These achievements, however, are overshadowed by the slow response of poverty to the growing economy: the poverty rate remains stagnant at around 34% despite a robust annual growth of about 7%. This apparent disconnect between growth and poverty reduction needs to be addressed. Therefore, we focus our work on the energy, agri-food, and water sectors, in alignment with Tanzania's National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty.
