SNV targets Nepal’s most remote areas and vulnerable populations, such as far western and southeast provinces, enabling sustainable and more equitable lives for all.
Our team operates in 22 districts through project offices, strengthening capacities and empowering partnerships that transform the agri-food, energy, and water systems. Our work is aligned with the priorities of Local, Provincial and Federal Authorities and with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets.
The core strength of SNV in Nepal has been building the capacities of local governments in the pre-federal and post-federal structures of the country.
Since 2008, we have worked to provide sustainable access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for all people through an ongoing area-wide approach in the water sector. As for the energy sector, we work to ensure sustainable and affordable access to energy systems. Aligning with the Government of Nepal’s evolving priorities, we have partnered with government, civil society, private sector, and right holder organisations to provide improved services in rural and urban areas of 22 districts in Karnali, Lumbini, Sudurpaschim and Madhesh provinces. Our learnings on gender equality, disabilities and social inclusion (GEDSI), along with developments in climate-risk informed programmes are essential for supporting the most vulnerable populations, who often bear the brunt of Nepal’s high vulnerability to climate change impacts.
Our solutions are evidence-based and tailored to enact impactful systems change, raising incomes, building capacities, providing meaningful employment opportunities, and improving access to services inline with the UN's SDGs.
