SNV has been a driving force in Bhutan's development for over three decades, operating under a country agreement with the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB). Our initiatives are meticulously designed to align with the nation's development priorities, ensuring maximum impact.

SNV's core sectors of agriculture, renewable energy, and water, including sanitation and hygiene, drive our development efforts in Bhutan.

In collaboration with the RGoB, SNV takes the lead in implementing market-based domestic biogas programs. Our goal is to establish a commercially viable biogas sector in Bhutan, leveraging renewable energy sources. This not only bolsters energy security but also reduces reliance on traditional fuels, significantly mitigating environmental impact.

Our focus on empowering smallholder farmers remains unwavering, facilitating improved market access and enhancing crop quality. This commitment drives the advancement of Bhutan's agricultural sector, fostering sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.

Recognising the significance of water, sanitation, and hygiene, SNV actively engages in both urban and rural areas. Our approach centers on community ownership, ensuring communities lead and actively participate in water sanitation and hygiene initiatives. Simultaneously, we work at the national level to shape policies, establish standards, and create enabling environments that support sustainable outcomes.

SNV's commitment to driving positive change in Bhutan's agriculture, renewable energy, and water sectors remains steadfast. Through collaboration with the RGoB and local communities, we strive to create lasting impact, foster inclusive development, and contribute to Bhutan's journey towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
