Established in Benin since 1970, SNV supports local actors to become agents of their own development by facilitating networking, knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Through its advisory services and evidence-based advocacy, SNV Benin works to create a favorable political and economic environment aiming to: reduce poverty, achieve food and nutrition security, create sustainable markets, increase climate resilience and access to water and basic sanitary facilities.

SNV Benin works in the following 3 sectors:

  • Agriculture: promote agribusiness, youth entrepreneurship, market access, inclusive business, land and natural resource management.
  • Renewable Energies: reduce biomass exploitation and protect the environment, develop a market for solar lamps, solar PV and biodigesters.
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): promote integrated water resources management, improve access to drinking water for all, sanitation systems and hygiene practices.

These sectors also take into account cross-cutting themes such as governance, gender, employment of women and youth, climate change and new technologies.
