    Job Description

    The Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA) is an initiative led by the World Food Programme (WFP) and implemented by SNV Rwanda with a strategic focus on increasing the incomes and resilience of smallholder farmers. FtMA’s vision is to build sustainable food systems by strengthening markets, empowering smallholder farmers to increase their yields, incomes, resilience, and contributing to global food security.

    The Project Coordinator leads and manages the planning, inception, implementation of the project, including oversight of the field workforce, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, timeline, and acceptable quality standards. S/he serves as a liaison between SNV Rwanda and WFP field offices. S/he maintains heathy relationship with other relevant stakeholders such as local authorities through JADF, input suppliers, buyers among others as S/he provides support to Cooperatives/FSCs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support farmer organizations (coops/FSCs) to adopt standards on governance, GAP, PHHS, aggregation, and business practices. 
    • Strengthen cooperatives/Farmer Service Centers (FSCs) to meet FtMA standards on governance, GAP, PHHS, and business management.
    • Coordinate and monitor trainings, coaching, and adoption of good agricultural and post-harvest practices at field level.
    • Track progress of farmer groups toward graduation and commercial readiness.
    • Facilitate linkages between farmers/coops, buyers, input suppliers, and financial service providers.
    • Support pre-harvest contracting, aggregation planning, and compliance with buyer quality and volume requirements.
    • Promote access to bundled services (inputs, finance, mechanization, insurance, digital services).
    • Coordinate day-to-day field activities in line with FtMA workplans and timelines.
    • Collect, validate, and report field-level data (production, adoption, volumes marketed, challenges, success stories).
    • Ensure safeguarding, GESI, and compliance with FtMA and partner guidelines, escalating risks and issues in a timely manner.
    • Supervise, coach, and support field officers and enumerators to deliver FtMA activities effectively.
    • Develop weekly/monthly field plans, assign tasks, and monitor performance against targets.
    • Build a high-performing, accountable team through regular check-ins, mentoring, and performance feedback.
    • Manage and account for full compliance of administrative, finance and HR components of the project.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field (bachelor’s with strong relevant experience acceptable).
    • At least 7–10 years of progressive experience in agricultural development, market systems, or value chain projects.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, including supervision of field teams and partners.
    • Knowledge of value chains, market systems, and farm-to-market linkages. 
    • Familiarity with digital tools for reporting, data collection, and e-services. 
    • Proven experience working with farmer organizations/cooperatives, private sector actors, and local government structures.
    • Practical experience in market linkages, aggregation models, GAP/PHHS, and access to finance or bundled services.
    • Good representation and interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with partners and government officials
    • Must be prepared for frequent field travel, including extended visits to rural and remote areas.
    • Fluent Kinyarwanda speaker, good English command.

    Contract Duration: A year with the possibility of extension
