Context and Purpose of the Job
This internship will provide the selected candidate with hands-on experience in the finance and accounting operations of the organization. A Finance Intern is a support role within a finance or accounting department. The primary responsibility is to assist in the daily financial operations, check that all required supporting documents are ensuring accuracy in financial records, by using SAP ByDesign to enter and update payments, and support the overall routine activities in the Treasury and Disbursement department.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INTERNSHIP
The main objective of the Finance Internship is to support the finance team in carrying out day-to-day tasks and to gain practical exposure to financial processes such as accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
The selected candidate will have hands-on experience in the finance and accounting operations of the organization and have a support role within a finance or accounting department. The primary responsibility of a finance assistant is to assist in the daily financial operations, check that all required supporting documents are ensuring accuracy in financial records, by using SAP ByDesign to enter and update payments and support the overall routine activities in the Treasury and Disbursement department.
Job Description
- Check that all required supporting documents (e.g., purchase orders, delivery receipts, contracts) are attached to the invoice.
- Use SAP ByDesign to enter and update payment. Ensure that all transactions are coded accurately based on project codes, cost centers, and appropriate budget lines.
- Create down payment entries in SAP ByDesign, ensuring the down payment is allocated correctly to the corresponding project codes.
- Process invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Ensure that all financial documents comply with SNV's internal financial policies and Ethiopian accounting standards.
- Ensure that invoices and payment requests have the necessary approvals before being processed for payment in SAP.
- Prepare letters to Awash Bank for initiating payments, including details such as the recipient,
- Assist with audits and support external auditors as needed
- Assist in the monthly tax payment process for Treasury officers.
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 0-1 years' experience.
Additional Skills:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Contract Type: Internship
Expected start date: April 1, 2025
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Contract Duration: Nine months with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
