Honduras Community Development Project (HCDP) is implemented by SNV in order to support social and economic development of the rural communities of Honduras. The project is supported by the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank FMO and Finnfund. The project will be implemented by SNV from October 2018 to September 2020.

The work in the communities will focus on SNV’s work themes, such as agriculture, environmentally sustainable energy alternatives, and water and sanitation. It will also include cross-cutting themes like gender equality, youth employment, and organisational strengthening.

This project on the Ecological Restoration, Protected Agriculture, and Sustainable Water and Energy Project (PIAH, in Spanish), successfully implemented by SNV, which had a great positive impact on the Lenca, Tolupán, and Nahua communities.

During the first six months, SNV implement a broad and inclusive process of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) with the people in each territory, as established by the International Labor Organization’s Convention 169 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Indigenous Peoples, and it will use project PIAH’s success stories as a starting point.

The projects to be implemented will be defined and agreed upon in accordance with the priority needs identified by the communities during the FPIC process, which is part of the work themes of SNV. These needs will be prioritised because they are the result of the community vulnerability assessment.
